Video games and responsibility

Video games... this is a topic that doesn't just involve children but adults as well. Addiction to video games is not a new issue in our modern society. With the progress of technology, any kind of games are created, involving children since their early childhood until their adolescence. Indeed, learning games for young children use the advancement of technology and they are like video games, so it is a first contact for children. When they grow up, children can spend a lot of time in front of television because of video games, sometimes forgetting to do their homework. It is parents' responsibility to look after their children not to be addicted to video games even thought some children play secretly! Teenagers and young adults tend to be the most addicted people to video games. In this case, their are of age, so nobody could tell them when to stop. Though they are responsible of their behavior,  the government should institute a law on the time spent on video games. My own experience can show how bad video games can make us addicted. Last summer, I bought "the Sims" a famous video games on social virtual life. I begun playing it during the summer, and rather than going out to take a walk and enjoy the sun, I preferred staying at home to enjoy my virtual character's life. As far as video games will destroy people's life, the government should take measures.

Slaughtered sled dogs' mass gravesite kept secret

In this article, "Slaughtered sled dogs' mass gravesite kept secret" in The Globe and Mail, published on February 1st 2010, Sunny Dhillon explains the investigations done after the discover of dozens of sled dogs slaughtered after a post-Olympic drop. This article talks about a dozen of sled dogs found dead under a layer of ice in Whistler.
Because the income of tourism dropped considerably when Olympic finished, dozens of dogs were slaughtered for entertainment to compensate Outdoor Adventures Whistler losses. SPCA officials tried to investigate the gravesite, estimating the number of dead dogs up to 100.  Still, the grave location remained to be secret not to make the public react too much.it was actually the employees who were the criminals but they were to do so against their will.  To my mind, killing a dog, for entertainment is a crime. Even if it is an animal, animals have a soul as well, and shouldn't be considered like machines. It is outrageous to see how people can be mean. We get used to say that dogs are the best friends of humans but this study shows how humans betrayed and ill-treat others species.

Heineken - Walk in Fridge

This is my favorite TV commercial. This advertising is about a beer "Heineken". I actually hate beer but I definitely love this commercial. In this ad, a couple make their friend visit their new apartment. Women turn hysterical while seing the host closet, which is amazingly big. We all know that women love shopping and clothes so their reactions are not surprising. But we don't expect men's reaction at the same time when the host open the frigde. It is really funny to see men acting like women because of beer. Here is my favorite TV commercial, "heineken- walk in fridge", so press play and enjoy!

My research project

I decided to choose "The relationship between parents and children depending on the culture" as topic. Once, in class, Hussain and I were talking about the eye contact (during the discussion on gender communication) and the fact that children could or not look at their parents in the eyes. It could be perceived as a disrespect in some cultures. I am curious about the habits and the different kind of education throughout the world. In North America, it is prohibited to beat children. I was shocked to notice how some north American kids could be insolent towards their parents. So I would like to know some laws according to the education in most countries. In my investigations, there are five questions i would like to answer to:

Are there law established according to children education for all countries?

Are taboo topics in families related to the culture?

At what age are children supposed to leave the family house, depending on the culture?

What kind of punishment do parents use towards their children?

Is children insolence related to their education and the relationship with their parents?
